Season transitions in Diablo 4 are usually a good time to clean out your stash, but Season 15 gives players another reason to think carefully before selling or salvaging everything. The value of your D4 items depends on whether you want to strengthen an Eternal character or begin again with a fresh Seasonal Realm character.

For players staying with Eternal Realm characters, some D4 items may become significantly more useful because of the new Horadric Cube system. Players starting Season 15 from Level 1 have a different priority: permanent account unlocks matter far more than stockpiling seasonal resources that will not follow them into the new season.

Understand the Seasonal Reset

The Seasonal Realm and Eternal Realm effectively serve two different purposes once a season ends. Your Season 14 seasonal character and its inventory move to the Eternal Realm, where you can continue using them.

However, a new Season 15 seasonal character begins with a fresh progression path. Resources accumulated during Season 14 do not simply become a personal starter package for that new character.

This means there is no universal list of items that every player should save. Before you spend your final Season 14 hours farming, decide which type of character you actually want to prepare.

Give Good Uniques a Second Look

The biggest reason for Eternal players to reconsider their stash is the upcoming Horadric Cube crafting system.

Season 15 introduces a direct recipe for upgrading standard Unique items into Mythic Uniques. Unlike simply replacing an old item with a new drop, the new approach can preserve the original item's stats, masterworking progress, and Greater Affixes.

That makes strong Unique items particularly interesting. A Unique with excellent rolls or several Greater Affixes should not automatically be treated as spare inventory.

Even if the item does not fit your current build, keeping it may give you another option once the new Mythic upgrade system is available. Take some time to inspect older gear before deciding what to salvage.

Protect Your Crafting Resources

Resplendent Sparks and Pandemonium Fragments should also be handled carefully. They are expected to play a role in the new direct Mythic crafting recipes, making them valuable resources for Eternal characters.

If you already have enough materials to support your current build, saving these components can be a better long-term decision than spending them on an upgrade that will soon be replaced.

Gold deserves similar treatment. The new direct crafting recipes are expensive, so a large gold reserve can make it easier to act when you finally find the perfect Unique to upgrade.

You do not need to stop spending entirely. The practical approach is simply to avoid unnecessary purchases when you are already satisfied with your current Eternal setup.

Look Through Your Old Caches

Unopened Reputation caches are another small detail worth remembering.

Glints of Hope Reputation caches are receiving Superior Lair Keys in their loot tables. Since this change is retroactive, unopened caches may be worth holding until the updated system is active.

This is especially useful for players who tend to collect reward bags and forget about them. Before Season 15 changes arrive, take a quick look through your inventory and stash instead of opening everything automatically.

Mythic Tributes can also be worth preserving. Better drop rates and improved target-farming options make higher-value Tributes useful when you are ready for serious endgame farming.

Spend What Will Not Transfer

If you are completely focused on starting Season 15 with a fresh character, saving seasonal materials is much less important.

Use boss summoning materials before the reset and chase permanent rewards such as mounts, cosmetics, transmogs, and achievements. These rewards can remain useful even after the seasonal character itself is no longer your main focus.

You should also spend remaining Obols and use Elixirs rather than letting them sit unused. They can still improve your current Season 14 experience, while they will not provide the same benefit to a brand-new seasonal character after the reset.

Check Smoldering Ashes and Renown

Do not forget the account-wide side of preparation. Check your Season Journey and claim any Smoldering Ashes rewards you have already earned.

After that, review your Renown progress across all five regions. Completing the permanent Renown rewards gives new characters access to extra Skill Points and increased Potion capacity.

Altars of Lilith are equally important. Their stat bonuses and increased Obol capacity remain useful when you create future characters, making them one of the better things to finish before a new season.

Do Not Ignore the Campaign Skip

The Campaign Skip is another important part of launch preparation. If you have already unlocked it, your new seasonal character can move directly into the progression systems designed for the new season.

That can make the first day feel considerably smoother. Instead of spending your opening sessions repeating the campaign, you can focus on leveling, seasonal objectives, gear upgrades, and the new activities introduced with Season 15.

A Better Way to Prepare

There is no need to panic-farm everything before the reset. The better strategy is to separate temporary resources from things that can continue providing value.

Eternal players should inspect their Unique collection, preserve important crafting materials, save gold, and consider holding certain unopened rewards. Players starting fresh should spend temporary resources and concentrate on permanent account unlocks.

The goal is not to have the biggest stash possible when Season 15 begins. It is to make sure the resources you keep are actually useful for the character and realm you intend to play. For players upgrading an existing build before the transition, it can make sense to compare prices and availability before deciding to buy Diablo IV Items.
