For home use, 10 gig switches with optical fibers can be had for $100 or something now. Sure, it's cheap Chinese stuff. It works.

So for longer runs, there's literally almost no reason to use copper anymore. Even my small house has fiber cables between the switches, it's so much easier to deal with too as it's thinner and lighter and I get clean 10 gig for 300 *meters*, not feet. Not that I'm anywhere near those distances.
