Ubisoft is testing a way to launch its Steam games without installing or opening the Ubisoft Connect PC launcher. The first title is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, via a new Steam tool called Ubisoft Connect Services.

Yes, they are going broke, but this is one of the reasons.
Steam users simply won't buy their titles because of the stupid UBI launcher.
I am not sure what they are thinking though. Do they expect Steam users suddenly start buying old game on Steam after the launcher removal?
I think that's a false expectation, that ship has sailed when they added their launchers.
Might work if they offer very steep discounts on Steam, but then again, it'd take huge volume sales to make meaningful contributions.
They should have been selling their entire library on Steam without the UBI launcher - their banlTrumpsy would have workout out very differently.
They were way too focused on competing with their digital platform - here's the result.
They made their bed, now they lay in it.
Good riddance.
Too bad they are going to be closing, they had some nice games actually. |
