STEAM is wonderful eh?
This was just waiting to happen..the mere fact that VALVE don't give a toss and inform you, shows how much they don't give a $hit about the customer. Once the money is in their hands, it's more or less 'tough tits' from them what happens to your personal details ie credit cards.
Yes 'digital downloads are the way forward', 'support the Dev', 'buy as soon as it's available' and all that bullshit.
STEAM -like any other form of future download system- is a **PERMANENT** major target for hackers. Your credit card details are sold on to likes of Nigerians who will fleece your accounts dry.
It's nothing new and it's never going to be safe.
Check out the 'Walmart hacked'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/2774477.stm
Quote: | A computer hacker has gained access to more than 5 million Visa and Mastercard credit card accounts in the US. |
Me? Well i'll always buy my games in a 'physical form', digital download can go screw itself! -if it doesn't SCREW you first!! |

there will allways be hackers, and freud. So If you own a company, with senstive informasjon like cc info ans so on, you SHOULD have some major securety. Its the companys foult if in some way the informasion is leak out. Its valve who have to pay the bill here if someone loses there money. So there fault that they are not "hacker" safe. |

Yes companies storing CC numbers SHOULD have security, but there is no financial motive to do that - they can simply deny that it happened and you have to prove that the fradulent purchase was due to info being leaked from THEM, and not one of the million other companies that have your CC number. Besides we only know something like this happened because the hacker went public with it - he could easily remain silent and sell the nubmers on black market. And the company in question may not even notice someone hacked them!
More then valve, you should be angry at the system - when all you need to do fradulent purchase in someone's name is to know their CC number (and expiration and/or CVV), all of which you need to provide to any company you do business with. Of course there are charbgebacks, and card limits and lockable cards etc., but the presumption that everyone with that info is automatically authorized to take money from you is stupid. |

All I can say is HAHAHAHHAHA!
Woo, what big news! Valve got hit again and some supposed hacker hacked a non-protected site, Yeah....What an accomplishment. They'll have this clown nailed, if he ain't nailed already, in hours. Maybe they can spare us any further news and put a bullet in his head too for being such a tard.
Whoppe I'll watch my 'hardly ever used credit card'. Big deal. You buy online, you know the risks.
I bet Stumpus is afraid he wont be able to purchase anymore child porn on the net with his credit card. |

Or are you one of those freaks that dresses in diapers and get's breast fed aged 40YEARS old!? Yeah that's you alright.
No wonder Canadians have strick gun laws, if your an example of them. What a missfit!!

I feel bad for all the people whose credit cards are going to be ripped off. But, I think it's only Valves responsibility to the point of the privacy agreement you agreed to when you used your credit card with them in the first place. I dont know what it says, nor do I really care to find out becuase I have never used Steam to buy anything (nor do I really use it all).
As for xxxx, please grow up. Thank you.
As for Stumpus, no need to give him more fuel. |
