Interested list again.
The numbers are very close - as if the same people downloaded them.

Didn't play any of that rubbish though...

Only PC game I paid for was Portal 2. The rest PC wise I didn't even bother to pirate.

Wii game wise all of them minus FIFA (american so soccer isn't that a big of a deal to me) I've downloaded scrubbed pirated copies. The only problem there is I also own them as well. I have maybe around fifty Wii games at my peak on a USB drive since I softmodded my Wii. Five kids destroy and lose discs like no tomorrow. It's unrealistic for me to keep the physical discs free from harm. The only dubious thing involved in my case is technically I steal these games (pirated copies) use them as a demo on the children and if it's given a thumbs up by them mostly I purchase it. There are a few games that require UDraw among other accessories that come with these games or need to be bought in advance.

Xbox if I had one would end up exactly like the Wii.

I try to vote with my wallet as best as possible. Purchase the truly worthwhile products while the horrible ones suffer (at least in my house). Wii game wise I could have hundreds of titles not to mention all the VC and Wiiware I can load but it's not practical even if free. There just isn't enough time in a day or year even for me to go through and play all these games good or bad regardless if it's free (pirated) or not. I have the same issue with my PC gaming habits as I could download everything to my hearts content but never get around to actually playing even a quarter of them. Having a job and family I have to be picky and with that my money on supporting who I feel made a game worth the expense.

these numbers are trivial. You cannot sum them in any category because, as someone already said, these are mostly the same people pirating (or demoing) games. I would expect those numbers to be twice as high since RapidShare and other services are not included, but companies were almost always trying to present piracy numbers in lines of hundreds of millions.

Also, some of those "pirates" end up buying games in the end, especially if they like the multiplayer component. They also generate free positive or negative feedback, and in the end, they are left to vote with their wallets.

fool me once shame on me, fool me twice, well, I am going to "pirate" all your games first and then decide if I am going to pay for them.

I am personally 100% against piracy - but I do try my games before purchasing them. It's like who the hell is going to buy a car without giving it a test drive.

I know what companies think of me. And I honestly don't care - if they want people to stop pirating their games then one of the things they need to do is always let people try it out. But a lot of people like you and me wouldn't have to go through that extra step to make sure we aren't wasting our money.

right on the money man Wink Alternative is is if you are willing to wait for them to get desperate and release the demo one month after the game itself.

Most of the people who pirate are the ones who cheat, screwing all of the multiplayer games with their aimbots, wallhacks, and everything else.

how did you come to this conclusion? o.O You can't play pirated game on regular servers, ergo, you can't cheat. So you have to buy original to be able to cheat. If you buy original you are not a pirate are you? So my conclusion is exactly the opposite from yours.

It is popular belief that by cheating, you are throwing away values in the game.
Perhaps Kompressor it implying that people who pirate their games are more likely to cheat because they got their game for free (and as such, there's no value lost).
I don't think so. Most of the people I know to cheat do not do that in their first play of the game. They do that in the second or third run to create a certain "fun factor" or, for modding and mod testing (to create the appropriate testing environment quickly).

but you can't pirate BF3 and play it online. You must purchase it legally to be able to cheat, that's my point.

Yea that doesn't explain the cheaters that spend hundreds of dollars to boost their accounts even on consoles by owning multiples of everything. Hell I used to have two or three accounts in MMO's back when I played DAoC WoW Eve Online and more as I was used to having that advantage. If you played DAoC back in the day then you know having buffbots (extra accounts or a friends) was a HUGE deal.

I have no idea what DAoC is, but I sre know what multiaccounting is Razz Only mmorpg I ever played was guild wars, friend gave me his account when he got bored, I passed it on when I got bored etc. I played some fre mmorpgs but they sucked hard one way or the other. But I never got an urge to cheat or something. Probably because I don't like PvP element anyway, I get way to frustrated with those things. I used to play LoL but it got frustrating at some point so I stopped. I feel to old for competitive gaming, I like to game to relax or trip my self out, I hate games that are more like chores than fun. :/
