there is an article about it on guru3d, read it. They contacted ubisoft, they were told that nothing could be done and that they don't even have any more copies for sale in their city or whatever. Then they contacted the developers which were kind enough to grant them special treatment and unlock their activation code.

Since I know few reviewers myself, I can tell you that game reviewers do get most of the titles for free to review. These are special editions for press and usually expire after some time. Hardware reviewers get, logically, hardware for review, not software. They get samples which they usually don't need to return or in case of smaller review sites, local distributor sends out one sample to be shared among several reviewers/sites and then returned, or not, depends...

big site like Guru3D has enough income to buy software that they need to review their hardware. I would do the same, but even if I was a millionaire, I wouldn't buy one copy of any software for every 4th piece of hardware that I change in my PC. It's a matter of principle.

i make it a point to not buy any thing from them.

i can understand they don't want it pirated but pirates are pirates and wont pay regardless. All you have done is lose me as a customer and your games will take a few weeks longer to pirate.

I gave up leeching shit once i got a decent job and could afford to buy stuff, now you've turned back into a leecher.

mmm, no they wont. It's the same ol wrapper telling it's DRM engine that the computer is always the same and that the game is registered.
